When you’re learning te reo Māori, if you cut your words into syllables, this will really help you to pronounce words well, even if you’re seeing them for the first time.

The trick is …
First, to put your cuts after every vowel or pair of vowels.
Second, to say those syllables separately and slowly to get those vowel sounds right.
Finally, say the word at normal speed, blending the sounds together and you should be good to go!
